Seton opens $30M neighborhood hospital in Bastrop

The Ascension Seton healthcare provider on Tuesday announced the grand opening of its Bastrop “neighborhood hospital,” the $30 million medical campus that will serve the Bastrop County area.
Located along Texas 71 near the Texas 304 intersection, the two-story, 40,000-square-foot facility will include an emergency room, imaging services, 14 inpatient beds, two minor procedure rooms and medical office spaces that will offer patients primary and specialty care services, including cardiac rehabilitation, maternal fetal medicine and family medicine. A women’s diagnostic imaging service is currently available in the facility, and mammogram and bone density scanning will become available in spring 2020, along with outpatient radiology services that will continue to be provided in the meantime at Seton’s Smithville location and at the Seton Diagnostic Center in Bastrop.
A 24-hour medical lab will also be on-site to quickly and securely return test results.
Outpatient physician practices and specialty services like the Seton Heart Institute, the Seton Brain and Spine Institute and outpatient imaging will be offered at the facility beginning in January, according to a Seton spokesperson.
“We are excited to expand our services in Bastrop to meet the changing health care needs of the community and its surrounding areas,” said Andy Davis, president and CEO of Ascension Texas, in a news release. “Ascension Seton Bastrop provides a wide range of high-quality medical care, keeping families close to home.”
Seton initially announced in March 2017 that it would be constructing the new hospital in Bastrop, saying that the company’s decision was driven by Bastrop County’s rapid population growth. Census data has shown that the county is among the top 50 fastest-growing counties in the United States. The hospital, built on 35-acres of land, is designed to grow and expand services alongside the community’s growth.
