Retail has been quickly following the sea of rooftops rising in Bastrop County, rushing to serve a population that grew from about 98,000 in 2020 to roughly 115,000 in 2024. Dozens of chains and mom-and-pop shops and restaurants are heeding the call. Bastrop County's retail trade area consisted of about 250,000 people in 2024, according to data from The Retail Coach.
