Compelling Advantages and Affordability
The Bastrop Economic Development Corporation operates on funding secured by a one-half cent sales tax. Qualifications for assistance are based on the Corporation's fund availability from year to year.
The Bastrop EDC offers assistance to businesses that would like to expand their existing operations or want to relocate or expand their out-of-state or out-of-country operations into the City of Bastrop.
Businesses that seek to expand within or relocate to the Bastrop Business and Industrial Park may qualify for a reduced purchase price on their property, or even "free land." This program is predicated on the amount of capital investment made and the number of primary jobs created. A percentage of the purchase price is rebated to the business over an agreed-upon period of time, based upon reaching certain milestones.
A project may also qualify for a Texas Department of Agriculture Capital Fund grant for up to $750,000 of infrastructure improvements. The City of Bastrop could apply for this grant on behalf of the project. For businesses expanding or relocating to Texas, the State of Texas offers incentives and financing, including the Texas Enterprise Fund and various tax incentives. Currently, there is no state income tax and no personal or corporate income tax in Texas.
In addition, the City of Bastrop may provide tax abatements on value added to the real property or new business personal property to encourage your business investment and/or expansion in the city, subject to city council approval.
