Bastrop 552, a 546-acre private entertainment hub and film studio, has been given an initial green light after the Bastrop City Council unanimously approved a development agreement and concept plan during a June 22 meeting.
Line 204 Studios, the Southern California-based company behind the proposed project, received the approval after updating its plans to quell concerns from some neighbors and Council members about the development bringing noise, light pollution and traffic to this small but growing city east of Austin. There have also been worries voiced about negative impact on wildlife.
The company has said the project will be developed in phases and create more than 1,400 jobs over several years, including 700 construction jobs, and would generate a $2 billion economic impact over 10 years.
