Bastrop collects $300,000 more in sales tax revenue this month compared to May 2020

Bastrop enjoyed a 45.5% boost to its sales tax revenue this month, collecting $302,586 in additional revenue compared to May 2020, state comptroller data show.
The city received $967,408 in sales tax revenue this month. Last May, Bastrop received $664,822 in revenue.
So far this year Bastrop has collected $3.88 million in total revenue, a 19% increase compared to its total collection of $3.25 million during the same period in 2020.
Smithville also experienced a swell in sales tax revenue this month.
The city received $84,622 in revenue this month — a 34% increase, or $21,527 in additional revenue — compared to May 2020 when the city collected $63,095.
