Bastrop EDC Partners with Ottomaite to Host Free Business 101 Seminar Series
News
This November, the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation (Bastrop EDC), in partnership with Ottomaite, is presenting Business 101: A Two-Part Seminar, an intensive, hands-on workshop series designed to empower the next generation of local entrepreneurs.
Led by Chris White, founder of Ottomaite, this two-part course breaks down the complexities of launching and scaling a business in Central Texas. Whether you are exploring a brand-new concept or looking to formalize an early-stage venture, this seminar equips you with actionable tools to turn your vision into reality.
A Two-Part Curriculum Designed for Real-World Execution
Held across a three-week window in November at the Bastrop Public Library (in the Pressley Meeting Room), the program blends step-by-step instruction with active, self-paced application. The program is split into two sessions and covers the following topics:
- Business Plan Development
- Entity Formation
- Licensing
- Marketing
- Business Operations
Session 1 | Nov. 7 2:30 - 4:30 PM
The first session delivers a comprehensive walkthrough of the foundational workbook. Attendees will explore "Zero to One" entrepreneurship, business formation structures (LLCs, sole proprietorships, partnerships), building a strong business plan, operational setups, targeted marketing channels, and small business tax compliance.
Between sessions, participants will put theory into practice, working through their individual workbooks, clarifying business models, and identifying specific pain points within their proposed operations.
Office Hours | Nov. 14 2:30 - 4:30 PM
Office hours are intended to answer any questions you might have at the halfway point between the two classes. Submit your questions using this Microsoft form or be prepared to ask during the session. Office hours will be conducted over Microsoft Teams (link provided here).
Session 2 | Nov. 21 2:30 - 4:30 PM
Reconvening two weeks later, the final session builds directly on your progress. Instructor White will provide live demonstrations of the workbook’s most complex sections, including financial modeling, cash-flow projections, and advanced operational strategies, followed by collaborative troubleshooting and Q&A.
