There’s a time for grief, then there’s a time for celebration — and a decade of growth and resilience after a massive wildfire that burned 34,000 acres, destroyed 1,660 homes and left two people dead calls for a time to remember and applaud the community’s progress, said Linda Seal, a licensed grief and trauma counselor in Bastrop.
One of the ways the Bastrop County Long Term Recovery Team is honoring the community’s growth and resilience on the 10th anniversary of the Bastrop County Complex Fire on Saturday is through its challenge coin. The recovery team is hosting a "Road to Recovery" commemorative event Saturday at the Bastrop Convention Center where it will have speakers, first responder information booths, and unveil the challenge coin.
