The first day of business for Bastrop’s Rhinestone Rattler Boutique was a good omen. “We opened our doors on July 29, 2023, and had a record-breaking day for sales – which was a sign that our decision to follow through with a near decade-long dream was the right call for us,” said Jaycie-Buck Courtemanche, who co-owns with Tommie Arnold the stylish women’s clothing store at 922 Main Street.
Jaycie said Main Street was the perfect match for the duo’s business. “Tommie and I knew that we wanted to open an in-person boutique, as well as offer an online option for our out-of-town shoppers,” Jaycie said. “With the increasing foot traffic in downtown Bastrop, Main Street was the ideal location for starting up a business. This would allow us to bring more shoppers to downtown, while also giving back to our community and helping support other local businesses in the area.”
Jaycie and Tommie’s current partnership had its origins in their working together in another Bastrop business. Tommie and her husband, Wayne Arnold, own Arnold Custom Builders on Hwy. 71 W., a home-building company which they have had for nearly a decade. They also own an investment property group and Arnold Hill RV Park, located in the back of Arnold Custom Builders. “Tommie knew she wanted to embark on another business adventure and let her husband run the construction business while she tried something new,” Jaycie said. Jaycie, who was Tommie and Wayne’s inside sales manager at Arnold Custom Builders, has a background in business and marketing and their future business goals perfectly meshed. “Tommie had always wanted to open another business and my main goal was to eventually own a clothing store. Together, we decided to become a partnership and turn our dreams into a reality,” Jaycie said.
While Rhinestone Rattler Boutique’s main products are eye-catching women’s clothing, accessories and shoes, Jaycie added, “We try to have a little something for everyone. We are also the only Kendra Scott vendor available in Bastrop. When we go to market we hand-select items that we love; we want our customers to look and feel their best in our clothes.”
Also, for potential customer interest, Jaycie pointed out, “A lot of people don’t know that there are separate office spaces located in the back of Rhinestone Rattler building (businesses which are unaffiliated with Rhinestone). They are filled with talented professionals, from estheticians, to specialists in laser hair removal and eyebrows, and a counselor, too – you can come shop with us and treat yourself to the multiple services in the back. We love supporting our ladies in the back and they do the same for us.” See Rhinestone Rattler’s eye-catching website below which includes an extensive photo gallery of models wearing the store’s fashions and other items.
