BASTROP COUNTY OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS

Bastrop County has unveiled a new CARES Grant opportunity for businesses inside county lines, but outside of city limits of Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville who have been impacted by COVID-19. The program will help small businesses continue business operations, retain employees, and fund adjustments needed to accommodate ongoing practice of social distancing and sanitizing requirements to deter spread of COVID-19 and protect public health.
Applicants have an approx. three-week window to apply for up to $15K in grant funds for costs incurred from March 27 to Sept. 30. Grants will be processed and funded in order received until budgeted funds are exhausted.
The Bastrop County COVID-19 CARES Small Business Grant Program opens applications today with an application deadline of July 31, 2020.
Business owners may apply online at bccaresgrant.org, or pick up applications at the following locations: Bastrop County Courthouse Annex security desk, Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, Elgin Chamber of Commerce, Smithville Chamber of Commerce, Cedar Creek Annex Building (JP/Tax Office), Elgin Annex Building (JP/Tax Office) and Smithville Annex Building (JP/Tax Office).
Applications may be submitted by July 31 as follows:

- In person at the Bastrop County Judge’s office

Any application which is incomplete or submitted after July 31 will not be considered. Please see the application for more details.
Decisions will be made by an assigned committee based on Commissioner’s Court approved Bastrop County COVID-19 CARES Small Business Grant program guidelines. Applicants will receive an email indicating approval or denial of funding.

CARES ACT FUNDING
Bastrop County received $250K in funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Aid, also known as CARES Act. The CARES Act established the $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund, which will be used to assist states and local governments impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
