BioCrest, a division of California-based Stratagene, announced a new division in the Bastrop area in 1998. They purchased 40 acres just 12 miles east of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to build their facility. In 2007, Stratagene was acquired by Agilent Technologies, a global leader in life sciences, diagnostics, and applied chemical markets.

In 2019 Agilent underwent a 15,000 square foot expansion at their Bastrop area facility. This expansion increased Agilent’s capacity to house inventory to fulfill the growing demand for next-generation sequencing products from the company’s genomics group, equipping the facility with cold chain storage and added logistics services.
