On May 12, 2007, Bastrop ISD celebrated the approval of three bond propositions that totaled $97,720,000. These funds will provide an additional high school ($65.8 million), a new fine arts center ($15 million) and a new multipurpose athletics stadium ($17 million).

Bastrop also offers a number of special purpose campuses, religious and secular private schools, as well as an active community of home school co-ops. Education options in Austin are a short half-hour drive away.
