Welcome to Bastrop!

canoeEstablished in 1832 as part of Stephen F. Austin's "Little Colony," Bastrop is the second oldest incorporated city in Texas. You can see more than 140 homes and sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old Town Bastrop, the Heart of the Colorado River on the El Camino Trail, is where the present meets the past.

Reasons to Choose Beautiful Bastrop

  • Ideal location - 30 minutes from Austin, 90 minutes from Houston and San Antonio. Just 22 miles from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Bastrop is at the juncture of U.S. Highways 71, 21 & 95.
  • Infrastructure - New industrial park with all utilities underground.
  • Texas is a Right-to-Work State with NO state income taxes!
  • Incentives - Low cost or FREE land; Loan & Grants assistance; Triple Freeport Exemptions; State Enterprise Zone benefits; Property tax Abatements, etc.
  • Quality of Life - Four excellent 18-hole golf courses; including the #4 ranked ColoVista and the new Wolfdancer course at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa; Riverwalk & Jogging Trails; Historic Downtown & Residential District (we're the 2nd oldest incorporated town in Texas!); Bastrop Opera House Theater, and much, much more!
