Welcome to Bastrop!
At a recent City Council meeting,
I was pleased to present a slideshow of recently-completed
and upcoming projects that the
Bastrop Economic Development
Corporation (BEDC) had either obtained directly or assisted in
obtaining. When viewed in a continuous stream, the results
were pretty amazing.
Several millions of dollars were added to our tax appraisal
rolls this past year, and many
more companies are looking at
expanding here in Bastrop. Here
are just a few of the highlighted
projects in the past year:
Two thriving companies have
chosen to pull up stakes elsewhere
in Texas and relocate to the Bastrop Business and Industrial
Park. Utilities installation experts Dig Tech/Line Tech moved from Giddings
this year, and biotechnology
manufacturer Bargas Medical
Devices will
soon leave Flatonia to occupy its
new Bastrop headquarters.
These relocations were
facilitated after the BEDC Board
invested $282,000 for a new
street and related infrastructure
in the 263-acre Industrial Park.
The BEDC offers free land and
other assistance to qualified
businesses.
The Coghlan Group is doubling the size of its current building to
20,000 sq. ft. This drug-testing
company has called the Industrial
Park home since 2001, and is a great asset to our community and
a very successful venture.
Bluebonnet Trails Community
Mental Health and Mental
Retardation Center is preparing for
construction of its new 20,000
sq. ft. office building near the
entrance of the Industrial Park.
They will have more than 60
workers at the new location.
Across from Bluebonnet Trails
MHMR, the Texas Forest Service
has plans to construct a new office
building and training center.
Firefighters from across the
nation come to Bastrop each year
to learn the latest techniques. In
the past, the TFS used a site at
nearby Camp Swift for the yearly
training. These heroic visitors
create a large economic impact in
our community.
And finally, the Deep in the Heart Art Foundry is constructing
an additional manufacturing
facility across from their existing
building. The fast-growing
company produces beautiful
bronze works of art. They will be
adding at least 30 workers at the
new site.
For all of your business location
and expansion needs, come and
see us in beautiful Bastrop, Texas – where opportunities grow!
