In a unanimous vote on Tuesday night the Bastrop City Council voted to approve an agreement between the Bastrop Economic Development Corp and Good Soul Brewing Company that will bring a multi million dollar micro brewery project into the Bastrop Business and Industrial Park.
Good Soul Brewing will be a micro-brewery handcrafting quality ale and beer, with an emphasis on quality ingredients, production efficiency, and sustainability. Brew production is expected to be 3,000 barrels for the initial year, and ramping to 25,000 barrels by the end of the fifth operating year. Initial distribution will be throughout Texas, focusing on Houston, Austin and San Antonio, with a goal of moving into other markets over time. The brewery will self-distribute in certain markets, and through wholesale distributors in other markets.
The Brewery will sell both keg and package products, allowing sales through the entire range of outlets, from bars and restaurants to grocery and other retail outlets. A high speed canning line will be operational from the outset. All package products and a truck distribution fleet will be cohesively branded, and will highlight the unique qualities of each product and the geographic location of the brewery. The brewery will have a tasting room and offer tours to the public for product promotions and customer relations.
Purchasing 3.7 acres in the Bastrop Business and Industrial Park located just south of intersection of State Highway 71 and State Highway 95 in Bastrop, Texas, Good Soul Brewing will soon begin work on their site consisting of a primary building comprising approximately 9,000 to 10,000 square feet, with ancillary uses including parking and circulation drive, grain silo, wastewater pretreatment, C02 storage building, tasting room porch and outdoor patio space. The project is expected to create 24 jobs over a 10 year period and has an estimated capital investment of over $7,650,000 over the same time period.
